CLASSIC
nutty old fashioned
The Old Fashioned was created over 100 years ago, and our Nutty Old Fashioned pays homage to the original by using the botanical flavors in our Black Walnut Bitters, and a slight smoky flavor from our Smoky simple Syrup.
2 oz Rye Whiskey or Bourbon
½ oz Bluegrass Bitters™ Smoky Simple Syrup
¼ tsp (about 2 droppers) Bluegrass Bitters™ Black Walnut Bitters
¼ oz water
Add the rye whiskey, Smoky Simple Syrup, and Bitters into a mixing glass, add ice, and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into an old-fashioned glass containing one large ice cube.
Garnish with an orange peel expressed around the rim.
CLASSIC
Cherry Old Fashioned
If you ask our founders what they drink on a typical night, it’s the Cherry Old Fashioned. While the recipe here is perfect for one person, ask Shawn, and he’ll tell you how to quickly scale this up for two, three or even more servings. If you want a drink to start with, this is our favorite.
Add the rye whiskey, Smoky Simple Syrup, Bluegrass Bitters, and water into a mixing glass, add ice, and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into an old-fashioned glass containing one large ice cube.
Garnish with 2 Cocktail Cherries and an orange peel expressed around the rim.
CLASSIC
nutty old fashioned
The Manhattan is as classic as the Old Fashioned. It balances the bourbon flavors with vermouth for sweetness and then uses the Bitters to expand the flavor profile. We suggest Black Walnut, but any of our Bluegrass Bitters™ flavors will work well in this cocktail.
2 oz Blended Wheated Bourbon
1 oz Vermouth
¼ tsp (about 2 droppers) Bluegrass Bitters™ Black Walnut Bitters
Add the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a single cocktail cherry.
