For the student who is considering a professional career in the performing and visual arts, preparing for post-secondary degree programs or pursuing a non-major study of the arts, CAPAA provides an arts training program during the school day that allows students to train, gain hands-on learning experience and explore their contribution to our culture.

Mission: To prepare students to skillfully compete in arts careers and contribute to culture by means of individual excellence, collaboration, and a passion for their discipline.

School Design: All students in CAPAA choose an area of focus. Four Arts and Humanities elective credits are achieved in the chosen area:

  • Musical Theatre
  • String Orchestra
  • Technical Theatre
  • Visual Art

CAPAA is a competency-based school. Credit is awarded when proficiency is demonstrated. Instead of merely offering courses, material is delivered with components that include content, application, and performance. In addition to the core content for each arts focus the following are offered as a supplement:

  • Additional Workshops/Masterclasses – geared toward specific artistic or academic skills, guest artists work frequently with students during workshop days.
  • Numerous performances and demonstrations are given by each Focus Area throughout the school year.
